My first half marathon

So today was my first official half marathon and man was it great. I ran a whole lot faster than I actually thought I would. So of my three goals for the new year resolution I have 1 more half marathon to do. I lost all of the weight I wanted plus some and now I seem to be on my way to a over all better person. Life is good.

Really fast run this morning

Started this run not even wanting to run this morning. My wife and little girl are out of town and I haven’t been on a regular sleep pattern due to this. I only got about 4 to 5 hours of sleep last night and was really feeling it this morning. The only thing I can figure that caused me to run it much faster than I normally have is the fact I took two unusual days off Sat and Sun and also running with a ton of other people on the trail this morning. Oh well it feels great to have got in a such a good run this morning now looking forward to my lifting this evening.

Started off planning on doing 4.8 miles……….

Ended up doing 7 miles at a very good pace. The only reason even went this far is my ego was walked all over. Here I am running my own pace on a back country road when out of no where Mr. Brad Pitt look a like comes running up behind me out of nowhere. Tells me I have a nice pace going and then proceeds to pass me and leave me in his dust. Man did this not just crush my ego . Oh well got in a great run and feel great about it.

Regular PT

Had to hit up the mandatory PT this morning. As much as I really hated getting up at 5:00 AM and going to to this class at first I honesly love it now. I still have a bit of a hard time getting out of bed. I hit snooze up till the last minute. But at least I am getting up and going. I have already seen huge improvements on my waistline.

First trail run

Ran my first trail run ever and I have to say this was my best run in a very long time. Since this combines my newfound love of running with my old love of hiking I was extremely happy. Only bad thing about today was the trail here is marked really well at the beginning and the end but can be tricky in the middle. This lead me off course several times and added about half a mile to my run and probably 20 or 25 mins to the run as well. Since I had to look around during these times I took them off of my time and mileage with no way to track them.

Signed up for my first Half marathon

          So it is official I have paid and signed up for my first half marathon. I have been very consistent with my running. Hopefully God willing I will stay healthy through out this year and be able to run strong come this Sept. I want to run at least one or two other races before my half marathon but I will just have to see how this year goes. One good thing about signing up for this event and paying for it now is I will definitely have to do it I don’t like wasting money. Good thing is this is the Air Force Marathon in Ohio so I get a permissive TDY to go and run this basically free leave.
